Strick-Cornern at Rindermarkt

With our Baby Kiosk, we can whip up and execute spontaneous projects without a ton of planning. Our first edition of Strick-Cornern at Rindermarkt is just one of those fun initiatives.

Knitting brings together seemingly opposite worlds – it’s quiet and subtle, yet in our format, it’s also social and takes up space. While our previous activities have often focused on children and families, Strick-Cornern is a format designed to explicitly engage teenagers and adults as well.

Between the categories

Unlike traditional demonstrations or activities registered with local authorities, there are practically no specific regulations for communal knitting in public spaces. We find ourselves in a bit of a gray area: too small for a registered gathering, too uncommercial for a market stall, and too everyday to require special permission. While larger events often need weeks of approval processes and planning, we can simply set up our mobile baby kiosk, grab our knitting needles, and get started!

When we knit together in public spaces, it naturally sparks a sharing of knowledge and skills, leading to a direct, hands-on transfer of know-how. Plus, it helps us see public spaces as areas we can shape and transform.
