pong & pengo community project in public space

About pong & pengo

We are an interdisciplinary collective based in Munich. Drawing on our diverse backgrounds in visual arts, music, photography, and building culture, we collaborate with people of all ages to create art in public spaces. Our free, accessible projects bring generations together and foster new forms of community.

Current Events

pong & pengo @Münchener Biennale

We continue the Münchener Biennale in public spaces: New things emerge from leftover materials from music theater productions. While experimenting with material remnants, such as fabrics, woods, props, or stage elements, new ideas and items are created. Together, we shape a place where the themes of Biennale in the neighborhood can be further reflected upon, reinterpreted, and processed. Come by and join in!

While we don't have anything directly to do with housing, the right to the city is still a concern for us. That all people, as in our actions, can use and shape our shared public space. But also that all people can find adequate affordable housing in their city.

That's why we will be at the rent demonstration on Saturday - without a kiosk! Come in large numbers!

Note

Color cards on thick watercolor paper – I am still mixing and painting more color combinations for lots and lots of cards. I use them for playing, creating color series, and experimenting with combinations; also with patients in my art therapy job.

Building Culture Workshop - People building furniture together

Building Culture

We build together with local people and playfully appropriate public space in the process. In our workshops, for example, we create stools, seating, tables and other objects that enliven the urban space. It's not just about craftsmanship, but above all about collectively shaping spaces and experimenting with new forms of coexistence.

Art in public space - creative making

Art

We make art in urban spaces – together, openly and with whatever is available. In our workshops, we sew, carve, print and play with materials. From fabric, wood, paint or Lego, we create places of encounter and appropriation – for everyone who wants to participate.

Music Workshop - Instrument building in public space

Music

We open ears instead of explaining music. In our open music workshops in public spaces, we build instruments together from wood and recycled materials. We transform the kiosk into a resonant meeting place – where everyone can experiment and discover new sounds.
