Strick≈Cornern at Rindermarkt

With the Baby-Kiosk, we can develop and implement spontaneous actions on short notice without much planning effort. Our first edition of Strick≈Cornern at Rindermarkt is one such action.

Knitting connects apparent opposites - it is quiet and unobtrusive, yet in our format, it is simultaneously social and space-occupying. While our previous actions were often geared towards children and families, Strick-Cornern is a format explicitly intended to appeal to youths and adults as well.

Unlike traditional demonstrations or activities registered with the local authorities, there are practically no specific regulations for communal knitting in public spaces. We exist in the spaces between categories: too small for a mandatory assembly, too non-commercial for a market stall, too everyday for a special use permit. While larger events often require weeks of approval processes and corresponding lead times, we can simply grab our knitting gear with the mobile Babykiosk, sit down, and get started.

Knitting together in public spaces automatically fosters an exchange of knowledge and skills, facilitating a direct, practical transfer of expertise—including the understanding that we can perceive public space as a space for creative design.
